Satisfaction Guaranteed

Satisfaction Guaranteed

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

Psalm 36:5-9

Legend says that a Nordstrom department store in Alaska--a clothing retailer--refunded cash to a man who insisted he bought snow tires at Nordstrom but wanted to return them. A cofounder of Home Depot claims one of his stores did the same thing. Supposedly, both stores wanted to prove that "the customer is always right."

As amazing as those claims are, no doubt even the best retailer has a limit to what it will do to satisfy a customer. But no such limits exist with God's plan to satisfy His children in eternity. The psalmist wrote that God plans to provide "fullness of joy" and "pleasures forevermore" for those who inherit the eternal kingdom of God. Not a single promise of God has ever been found to be untrue, and there is no reason to doubt God's guarantee of total satisfaction. It's possible to be jaded about such promises, but the policies of modern companies that don't back their guarantees should not make us suspicious of God's promises.

If you long for total satisfaction in this life, take God at His Word today. And prepare to be satisfied forever.

The enjoyment of God is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied.

"Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me." Psalm 31:3 (NIV)

Devotion:
I recently watched as a frazzled shopper fumbled around in her bag trying to find her allusive keys. As she dug through her overstuffed purse, multiple items spilled out, landing on the counter and falling to the floor. Quickly, she began collecting her items.

I thought about her pretty purse, beautiful on the outside but hiding an unruly mess on the inside. And then I started thinking about how alike women and purses can be.

Maybe you're like a small purse that only has the capacity to hold a few things. Yet you try stuffing more into your life than you can hold, only to get frustrated. Perhaps one of those things is God: He's been crammed into a tiny space in your world and you don't give Him much room to rule because you feel more comfortable when you are in control.

Perhaps you're like a big purse, carrying all kinds of things. You're involving yourself in so many activities just because you can; with no real purpose to why you're doing it. You end up flustered like the shopper digging for her keys because you haven't spent the time needed to organize your spiritual life.
I know you're not a handbag, but when applying biblical truth and application, what kind of purse are you most like?

It's not God's desire for our inside to be out of sync with our outside. He desires for us to have our hearts turned toward Him and have our very pulse in beat with what He is doing in us.

Where should we start to curb the chaos, release our controlling tendencies and lighten the busyness to fall in step with God?

Start by being still. For some, that will go against every fiber of your being, but try it. Perhaps you abide in chaos because it's masking what is really going on with you, just like your pretty purse hides the unorganized mess within. Sit quietly and pray for God to help you be keenly aware of Him. Nothing that you are going through is a surprise to God.

Next, relax and trust the Lord. Sometimes feeling out of control causes you to hyper-control everything around you. Let go of your fears, doubts and worries and make room for God in your life.

Finally, clear your calendar. We overbook and over-schedule out of habit and now busy feels normal. Is your fast pace driven by fear, or does it define your value or identity? If so, re-evaluate where your time and energy are being spent and why.

Making a change doesn't come easily, but it can be done. Although seeking out time with God, learning to trust Him, and reorganizing your priorities can feel uncomfortable and difficult at first, I know for sure that it's not nearly as hard as living overcommitted and out of control.

Together, let's commit to cleaning out our "purses!"

Dear Father, will You please meet me right here, right now and quiet my heart so that I can rest and regroup? Thank You for the comfort of knowing that while I sometimes get waylaid, You never take Your eyes from me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

SHARE YOUR FAITH Wednesday - August 25, 2010

“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” - Philemon 1:6

Susan Perlman is director of communications of Jews for Jesus and oversees the organization's multimedia outreach. She came to the Lord through Christian guitarist Larry Norman. She first met him in the early 1970’s.
"Are you one of the 'Jesus People'?" Susan asked.
"I suppose so," Larry responded. "Would you like to get a cup of coffee?"
So Larry and Susan went to a nearby coffee shop and Larry shared the good news of Jesus Christ.
“This was the first time I had ever heard what is called ‘the gospel,’ said Susan. “Well, I let Larry know I was Jewish and that Jews don't believe in Jesus. I figured there might be an awkward moment, maybe even a mumbled apology, and then we would talk about something else. Maybe he'd invite me out on a date.”
Larry continued talking, unfazed by Susan’s answer, and he did invite her to one of his concerts. She later became a Christian.
“Larry was elated when I later came to believe in Jesus. He rejoiced in seeing me serve the Lord these past 37 years through a ministry I helped found, Jews for Jesus. You could say that anyone I've been able to influence for Christ can thank those who influenced me — and that certainly includes Larry Norman,” said Susan.

We need to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others. Today in prayer, thank the Lord for His Gospel and share His good news with others.

“The real problem of Christianity is not atheism, or skepticism, but the non-witnessing Christian trying to smuggle his own soul into heaven.” – James S. Stewart

Start Where You Are!

Start Where You Are!
...The Child grew and became strong... Luke 2:40
When do we get our first clue that Jesus knows He is the Son of God? In the temple when He was 12 years old. His parents are three days into the return trip to Nazareth before they notice he's missing. The temple is the last place they search, but it's the first place Jesus goes. By the time Joseph and Mary locate their son, He has confounded the most learned scholars in the temple. As a boy, Jesus already senses the call of God. But what does He do next? Recruit disciples and preach sermons? No, He goes back home and learns the family business. That's what you should do! Before you attempt to do great things for God, go home, love your family and take care of business. 'But I'm called to be a missionary,' you say. Good, because your first mission field is where you live! What makes you think you'll be believed by those who barely know you, if you're not credible to those who know you best? Charity begins at home! The Psalmist says, '...I will lead a life of integrity in my own home' (Psalm 101:2 NLT). For His first 30 years, Jesus' neighbours remembered Him as a worker. '...He's just a carpenter...' (Mark 6:3 TM). Jesus spent years developing a work ethic, sharpening His vocational skills and supporting His family. '...He had to enter into every detail of human life...' (Hebrews 2:17 TM). Why did Jesus do it that way? So He would know how we feel, and so we'd be confident in going to Him with our needs, knowing He's qualified and able to meet them. So, start where you are!

Established in Love

Established in Love

"May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love"
(Ephesians 3:17, AMP)

Did you know there is tremendous power in love? In the same way that a tree will grow taller and stronger when its roots grow deep, you will be stronger and rise higher when you are rooted and established in love.

How do you establish yourself in love? It starts with a choice. When you say "yes" to love, you are saying "yes" to everything God is because God is love! Then, choose to operate in love according to 1 Corinthians 13. That means being patient and kind. It means not seeking your own way, not being jealous or boastful. When you choose love instead of choosing your own way, you are showing the world that God is first place in your life. You are establishing yourself in love. The more you choose to walk in love, the deeper and stronger your roots will grow.

Remember, love is the greatest thing, and it is all that will last in eternity. Choose to establish yourself in love and let it be firm within you. Let His love build security in you and empower you to live the life of blessing He has in store for you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, I choose to be established in Your love. Show me how to love others the way You love me. Thank You for setting me free and empowering me to live the good life You have prepared for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Romans 15:4-13

In his book, Your Attitude, John Maxwell tells of a town in Maine that was proposed for the site of a great hydroelectric plant. A dam would be built across the river and the town submerged. When the project was announced, the people were given many months to arrange their affairs and relocate. During those months, a curious thing happened. All improvements ceased. No painting was done. No repairs were made on the buildings, roads, or sidewalks. Day by day the whole town got shabbier. Long before the waters came, the town looked uncared for and abandoned, though the people had not yet moved away. Without hope, the town deteriorated. One citizen explained: "Where there's no faith in the future, there's no power in the present."

Our hope is a real attitude based on an assured future. Certain inevitable blessings are ahead of us and nothing can cancel or deter them. We work on ourselves day by day, we stay immune to discouragement, and we persevere with excitement because the future is just as bright as the promises of God.

Hope is never ill when faith is well.

Using Worship and Praise in Spiritual Warfare

Using Worship and Praise in Spiritual Warfare
The title of this article is, “Worshiping the Lord.”

In this article, we give you 21 very good verses on being able to worship and praise the Lord in the Holy Spirit, along with giving you some commentary on some of the more intense levels of worship and praise you will see in the charismatic and non-denominational type churches.
However, what some Christians do not realize is that not only can you worship and praise the Lord in a church setting or in the privacy of your own home, but you can also worship and praise the Lord right in the middle of any type of spiritual warfare you may be going through. You can use it right in the middle of an actual deliverance when you are casting demons out of someone, and you can also use it right in the middle of any type of personal trial and tribulation that you may be going through on your end.
I cannot tell you how powerful of a thing it will be with the Lord if you will start to worship and praise Him right in the middle of any type of heavy storm cloud you may be going through. There have been testimony after testimony of people receiving very dramatic miracles and breakthroughs in their adverse situations once they just stopped and then started to worship and praise the Lord.
One of the best books I have ever read on this topic was a book titled, “Power in Praise” by Merlin Carothers. This book was written years ago, but is still available at amazon.com. Our bookstore also carries this book. In this book are incredible testimonies of people receiving miraculous breakthroughs from the bad trials they were going through once they just stopped and started to worship and praise the Lord right in the middle of their trying circumstances.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough if you would like to learn more about how powerful worship and praise can be with the Lord when you do it right in the middle of any type of severe adversity you may be going through.
So you can have some of the main verses on worship and praise right at your fingertips for this article, here are some main verses once again from our Bible on how God does wants us to worship and praise Him.
“… the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23)

“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)

“Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” (Psalm 29:2)

“The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He dwells between the cherubim; let the earth be moved! The Lord is great in Zion, and He is high above all the peoples. Let them praise Your great and awesome name – He is holy …. Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool; for He is holy.” (Psalm 99:1,5)

“He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two.” (Psalm 107:14-16)

“You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 118:28)

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord … Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” (Psalm 34:1,3)

“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:3)

“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.” (Psalm 69:30)

“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord.” (Psalm 104:33)

“Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with high sounding cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:1-6)

“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.” (Psalm 98:1)

“But I will sing of Your power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; for You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my defense, the God of my mercy.” (Psalm 59:16)

“Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to the Lord with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth … Sing praises to God, sing praises! … For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with understanding.” (Psalm 47:1,6)

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works. Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face evermore. Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth …” (Psalm 105:1-5)

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” (Psalm 100:1-5)

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods … Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.” (Psalm 95:1,6)

“Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; they shall sing praises to Your name.” (Psalm 66:1-4)

“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods … Give to the Lord glory and strength. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth.” (Psalm 96:1,7)

“Let them praise His name with dance; let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth … (Psalm 149:3)

Then David danced before the Lord with all his might … “Therefore I will play music before the Lord. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight.” (2 Samuel 6:14, 21)
As you can see from the very intense wording of some of these verses, God does want us to be able to worship and praise Him. And nothing will touch the heart of God more than if you stop and start to worship and praise Him right in the middle of a severe storm cloud.
As we had stated in our last new article titled, “Do Not Hold Any Grudges Against the Lord,” it is very easy to have high levels of faith and trust in the Lord when everything is going good and great. But let a heavier type of trial come into someone’s life, and then all of a sudden their high levels of faith and trust in the Lord will take a major nosedive. And from there, they have to try and make sure they do not get mad at God or stay mad at Him for any extended period of time.
If you are forced to face and engage with a heavier type of trial and tribulation in this life, and you may have to stay in that trial for a certain period of time, it would be our very strong recommendation that you worship and praise the Lord from time to time right in the middle of that bad trial – even if you are mad at God at the moment, or you do not feel like doing it due to the raw and negative emotions you are still experiencing.
Once you go into that worship and praise mode with the Lord, the Holy Spirit could then rise up in you and all of a sudden you will feel His peace and joy start to run through you. And once you feel the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit start to run through you, then you will realize that God really does have all of your problems in the palm of His hand and that He will help you handle it and get through it.
Again, major miracles and breakthroughs have occurred throughout the years with many people once they had let go of their problems and fully surrendered their problems into God’s hands for His full handling. And from there, were not too mad at God to continue to worship and praise Him.
If you were not aware that you could worship and praise the Lord right in the middle of a severe trial, or right in the middle of spiritual warfare where you are attempting to deliver someone from demons, I will leave you with two pieces of advice on this.
1. Worship and Praise in the Middle of a Deliverance With Demons

If you are attempting to deliver someone from demons and God is using you and raising you up to have a nice deliverance ministry for Him, then you will definitely want to add the element of worshiping and praising the Lord from time to time – especially if the Holy Spirit leads you to do so right in the middle of a deliverance.
There have been documented cases of demons being completely expelled out of a person once the deliverance team started to worship and praise the Lord right in the middle of the deliverance. The reason worship and praise is so powerful and so effective is because Satan and his demons absolutely hate it every time they see Christians worshiping and praising the Lord.
Satan wanted that kind of worship all for himself when he was up in heaven. And every time He sees us doing this with the Lord, it is a constant reminder of his own defeat with the Lord and his own expulsion out of heaven.
So if God is raising you up to have any kind of a deliverance ministry for Him, what I would highly recommend is that you carry two or three of your favorite worship and praise CD’s with you in the event you feel led by the Holy Spirit to all of a sudden to want to do it right in the middle of an actual deliverance.
Go ahead and start to worship and praise the Lord in the way and manner that is most comfortable for you and your deliverance team and stay with it as long as the Holy Spirit will lead. Sometimes this will either drive the demons right out of the person, or it will severely weaken them so that when you do go back into the battle, they will be much easier to cast out.
Also, if you can, try and get the person who has the demons on the inside of them to join along with you. But if they do not want too or they are not comfortable in doing it, do not force it on them. Just explain to them what you are doing and why you are doing it, and then tell them to just sit back and relax and enjoy the music and the worship and praise that you will be doing with the Lord.
Again, this will drive the demons right through the roof when you start to do this with the Lord – and some of them, if not all of them, could easily come right out of that person right in the middle of you worshiping and praising the Lord.
This is an extremely powerful, spiritual warfare tool, so do not ever be afraid to use it right in the middle of an actual deliverance, especially if you get a strong leading from the Holy Spirit to do so.
2. Worship and Praise in the Middle of a Personal Trial

Again, the second area where you can use worship and praise as a warfare tool is right in the middle of any kind of personal trial and tribulation that you may be going through on your end.
As we explained to you in our last article, “Do Not Hold Any Grudges Against the Lord,” once you are hit with any kind of severe adversity in this life, you can never lose your faith and trust in the Lord. You have to stay fully surrendered and fully connected to the Lord so He can continue to help you get through the trial. If you bail out on the Lord, you will pull away and disconnect from the one and only Person who can help you get through this trial.
As you are going through the trial, the Holy Spirit Himself will start to guide you through it, letting you know exactly what the Lord will want you to do on your end. And do not be surprised if from time to time you all of a sudden get a very strong leading from the Holy Spirit to want to start to worship and praise the Lord. If you do, I would strongly recommend that you go with that leading, even if your hurt and wounded emotions do not feel like doing it.
If you do, and you let go to do this with the Lord, you will really touch Him because He will see that you are doing everything you can on your end to stay very close to Him, and that you are fighting through some very raw emotions to even want to do this with Him in the first place.
Again, you will touch the very heart of God if you can learn how to worship and praise Him right through the worst and most trying of circumstances of your life. This is very powerful stuff!!!!
CONCLUSION

As I said at the top of this article, one of the best books that I have ever read on this topic is “Power and Praise” by Merlin Carothers. Amazon.com still does carry this book along with our own bookstore if you would like to check this book out.
Once you read this kind of a book with all of the incredible testimonies in it, you will be totally convinced that worship and praise with the Lord can also be used in personal trials and even when delivering people from demons. God not only loves to be worshiped and praised right in the middle of a church service, but He also loves to be worshiped and praised right through the worst of times and through the most trying of times in your life.
Since our God is still a God of big miracles, many of the times going into worship and praise with Him could completely turn the tide for you in your personal trial, and all of sudden the miracle or breakthrough you are looking for will come shortly after you had just got done worshiping and praising Him.
So if you were not aware that worship and praise could also be done with the Lord right in the middle of a personal trial or right in the middle of an actual deliverance with demons, it would be our very strong recommendation that you add this in your own personal walk with the Lord.
The above verses alone, when really meditated and chewed on, will show you how powerful of a thing it really is with the Lord if you can learn how to worship and praise Him from your spirit.

Blessed Wherever You Go

Blessed Wherever You Go

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands…you will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country"
(Deuteronomy 28:1-3, NIV)

Do you want to experience more of God's blessing in your life? Living in obedience and integrity is the key that unlocks the door to His abundance. When you put God and His Word first place in your life, the Bible says you'll be blessed in the city and in the country—you'll be blessed wherever you go!

This chapter in the Bible goes on to say that you will be so blessed that you will lend and not borrow. Can you see yourself in that position? Can you see yourself living in that kind of abundance?

See, God doesn't want you to be living with a barely-get-by attitude. We don't serve a barely-get-by God; our God is more than enough! He wants you to have more than enough to meet your needs and be a blessing to the people around you.

I encourage you today to make room in your life for the blessing of God. Choose to live in obedience to His Word. Choose to follow His commands. As you do, you will rise up higher and live the abundant life God has for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for Your hand of blessing on my life. I choose today to put You first in everything I do. Help me to walk in integrity and follow Your commands so that I can honor You always. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Letter of Love

Letter of Love
T. Suzanne Eller

"And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, Abba, Father." Galatians 4:6 (NLT)

Devotion:
I have only scraps now. Words penned on paper when I was a teen. I was a new Christian, trying to live my faith in a house of chaos. My mom was broken. My dad hid behind a newspaper, calling out words like "you belong in a loony bin" to my mother, spiraling her deeper into the abyss of rage and hopelessness.

I lived in parallel worlds. One, my very fractured home. And the second, a world of faith where people loved Jesus, and their lives reflected that love. Church was more than a building to me. It was a sanctuary, a shelter, from the roller coaster existence at home. I spent hours in the altar, weeping -- not out of grief, or self-pity -- but because I had discovered the most amazing truth: God is.

Two years after my encounter with Christ, I found a letter on my pillow.

Dear Suzie, I've watched you and I know what you have is real. It's a treasure, and I hope you hang on to it. . .

I sat on the edge of the bed and read through the rest of the letter, amazed. It was penned by my dad. A man who did not know how to express his feelings very well. A man who had faced his own demons growing up, and who believed that love was putting food on the table and going to work every morning at 7 a.m.

I look back now through the mirror of time and I see two adults, younger than I am now, who struggled. My mom with pain. My dad with the inability to know how to help. But that letter was a ray of light. I keep the tattered pieces because it came at a time that I needed it. I was praying often for my family, but came home to the same old mess day after day. I often thought about running away from home, but I ran after Jesus instead, all the while longing for my parents to discover what I had found.

My father never said a word about the letter left on my pillow. But he was baptized the next year. He and my mother started attending church. It was a long, hard road, but over time my mother was healed emotionally. Her smile came back, and it was beautiful.

In the 30 years that have passed, I've been reading another letter from a father -- my Heavenly Father.

The Bible has become an ongoing communication between me and Jesus. I don't know how many times I've sat with the Bible in my hands, and felt an encouraging word or a corrective nudge. A command to overcome, or a promise that I'd never have to do it alone. It's not specifically written to me, but the Holy Spirit marks it with my name as He reveals truth.

Just when I need it. Just when I've been praying for direction. Just when I've felt that my faith was running on empty.

Can I be honest? There are times I have allowed that precious Letter to sit idle. I've pushed it to the side, glancing at it as I passed, knowing I'd "get to it" later. And yet one day I realized the Bible is just as precious and affirming as those tattered pieces from my earthly father. In fact, the words are very much the same. I find in Scripture that Jesus knows what I've been feeling, but He reminds me that He sees me. He affirms that I have discovered real treasure, and encourages me to hang on to it, even in the hard times. Especially in the hard times.

Maybe it's been a long time since you picked up your Letter of Love. I pray that today that you'll pick it back up, hold it in your hands, and read it for the first time all over again.

Dear Father, You know my pressures. You know my shortcomings. Thank You that You know what I need. Restore the joy of my salvation today. Restore my hunger to communicate with You. Thank You for Your letter of love to me. I ask that Your Holy Spirit take Your word and mark my life with it. In Your Loving Name, Amen.
