ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER DAILY

ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER DAILY                                Friday - October 8, 2010

“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.” – Hebrews 3:13

In June 2007, high school students attending the National Leadership Forum in Searcy, Arkansas were given a challenge. They were asked what they believe to be the biggest problem in their school. They decided that at the root of most problems, such as drugs and alcohol lays the problem of discouragement.
The students decided the best way to combat discouragement was to start with a day of encouraging one another.
In 2007, the first day of encouragement was celebrated. In 2008, President George W. Bush formally recognized the day.
Andrew Baker, executive director of the Mitchell Center for Leadership and Ministry at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, is the organizer of the National Day of Encouragement and executive director of the Encouragement Foundation. He said: “The National Day of Encouragement is about inspiring Americans to make deliberate words and acts of encouragement a part of this day first, and then a part of every day of their lives.”

As Christians, we need to always encourage others to grow in the love of Jesus Christ. Today in prayer, thank the Lord for the encouragement you have received in your life and seek to be an encouragement to others.

“Encouragement is food for the heart, and every heart is a hungry heart.” – Pat Morley

God’s Word: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
