WE WILL BE TEMPTED

WE WILL BE TEMPTED                          Tuesday - October 12, 2010

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15

On September 25, 2010, the Texas Rangers clinched the American League West title. Everyone on the team began to celebrate, except for the team’s most valuable player, Josh Hamilton.
Josh has been battling drugs and alcohol for most of his adult life. He became a Christian several years ago and has been able to give his addictions to Christ.
That same day the Rangers won the title; it was also Faith Day at Oakland Stadium. As a visitor, Josh wanted to share his testimony.
So Josh stayed in the trainer's room after the game, showered and kept his commitment to speak to the large fan gathering.
Josh shared the next day his thoughts: “I'm excited and what happened yesterday as far as the guys celebrating in here, that's part of it. It's not for me. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have liked to have been in here with them. I just felt like it was in my best interest if I didn't participate. But it's amazing that it just so happened to work out that we clinched the same day they are having Faith Day and I'm speaking out there.”

In Christ we can live a better life than what temptation promises. Today in prayer, praise the Lord that in this life, we can always face temptation with Jesus and in His power overcome it.

“Temptation is not meant to make us fail; it is meant to confront us with a situation out of which we emerge stronger than we are.” – William Barclay

God’s Word: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13
