THE SUPERIOR MEDIATOR

THE SUPERIOR MEDIATOR                                  Wednesday - October 20, 2010

“But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.” – Hebrews 8:6

In 2002, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work “to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.”
It was Carter who in 1978 brokered the Camp David Accords that were signed by Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. It was a peace that has lasted now for 32 years.
Jimmy Carter’s latest success came in June 2008. The U.S.-based Carter Center reported that Colombia and Ecuador have agreed to restore some diplomatic ties following mediation efforts by former the U.S. President. Lacking any official authority, the Carter Center has become a trusted broker for peace, serving as a channel for dialogue and negotiation.

Jesus Christ is the superior mediator of all time. He was able to successfully mediate the difference between sinful man and Holy God by giving His life as a Holy Sacrifice. Today in prayer, thank the Lord that He is our trusted mediator.

“Christ’s work as Mediator is unique; it was to restore us to divine favor and to make us sons of God” – John Calvin

God’s Word: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” – 1 Timothy 2:5
