FIX YOUR THOUGHTS

FIX YOUR THOUGHTS                                  Thursday - October 7, 2010

“Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.” – Hebrews 3:1

In early 2010, Lee Shayler lost his eyesight. After feeling down, the Highlands Ranch, Colorado resident decided to do something. He announced he would walk 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours.
"I was looking for something to pick me up a bit, really, and try and get me focus and redirection and a challenge," said the 48-year old Lee. "I've never done anything like this before."
"It's 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours. In consecutive hours, so you have to walk one mile every hour," he said.
Lee’s wife, children, and volunteers guided him through several parks in Highlands Ranch as he walked one mile every hour, even throughout the nights.
He started the adventure on April 25 and successfully finished the 1,000 miles some 42 days later on June 5.
He was able to raise $18,000 for two charities that fight blindness. He was successful because he had to focus on every step of the 1,000 miles.

Our walk should be focused on our Heavenly Father. Though we cannot see Him, we can walk with Him. Today in prayer, fix your eyes upon Jesus and seek to follow Him every step of your life.

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.” – Helen Howarth Lemmel

God’s Word: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18
