DO NOT BE IDLE Wednesday – July 20, 2010

DO NOT BE IDLE Wednesday – July 20, 2010

“And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:14

In 1983, the United States hosted the first World Economic Conference at Colonial Williamsburg. It was the first meeting of the G-7, the leaders of the seven most powerful economic countries in the world.
At that time, there was a great amount of volatility in oil prices, high interest rates and high tariffs which plagued the world’s economies. Also, the cold war was still in the forefront of many people’s minds.
In preparation for this historic meeting, Secretary of State James Baker gave President Ronald Reagan a briefing book to study before the next day's opening session.
In the morning, Baker was dismayed to learn that the president had not even bothered to open it and frankly asked him why.
"Well, Jim," Reagan replied, "The Sound of Music was on..."

The Lord warns us not to be idle, but to be diligent in all that we do. Today in prayer, praise the Lord for the work He has given you and seek to do it with all your heart.

“Even if you're on the right road, you'll get run over if you just sit there.” – Will Rogers

God’s Word: “If a man is lazy, the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks.” – Ecclesiastes 10:18
